Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
It may not seem like much, but just doing a little bit each day for God
accumulates over time. You'd be surprised how much you can accomplish by
taking on an enormous project just a little each day. That's how I've
managed to type out lengthy books without being overwhelmed and giving up. I
start out by committing to myself to just type out a half to maybe one
chapter per day. In a couple months the book is done. The important thing
was to DO SOMETHING every day, even if just a paragraph or two of the book I
was typing out to publish on the internet.
I've learned that the way to accomplish big feats is to work a little each day. If we DO SOMETHING small, even though seemingly tiny and insignificant, it will become something large and much more meaningful over time. My website ministry has taken me several years of tireless work to accomplish. A little here, a little there, and before I knew it God was doing mighty things through my humble and frail labors in the Lord. I am nothing, but Jesus is everything. Jesus is precious (1st Peter 2:7).
I remember when I was in the 2nd grade dreading 10 more years of school. But day-by-day, a little at a time, I was out of high-school before I knew it. And then like a Dumbo I went back to school to college... lol. I remember thinking in my sophomore year that it would take forever to graduate from Bible college. It seemed like I would never finish school. It took me 8-painstaking years to finish and get my degree, but I graduated in 1993 with a bachelors degree in Pastoral Theology. It came quicker than I had thought. I remember telling myself when I had become discouraged at times back in my sophomore and junior years of college... “Just worry about today,” “Just focus on your next test,” “Just focus on doing what you're supposed to get done today,” “Just take it one day at a time.” Remember, by the inch-it's-a-since; but by the yard-it-is-hard.
That's how I still live my life decades later, i.e., one day at a time. We can only take life the way God gives it to us, i.e., one day at a time. God made each day to have 24-hours for a reason. That reason is to teach us to take life one day at a time. Every day is a new beginning, a new hope, a new chance, a new opportunity. Even if you're life seems hopeless and insignificant, there is something that you can do for God. If you have a pulse, you have a purpose. Even if you are confined in prison and unable to go places and do much for God, you can become a prayer-warrior for the Lord. God rewards each of us, not according to what we accomplish in His name; but rather, the amount of effort, resources and time we put into serving Christ.
We all have 24-hours in a day to serve God. Whether you preach to 10,000 people, or are mopping bathroom floors as a janitor for your church, you have equal rewards in Heaven from the Lord. You both put in the same amount of time. The janitor cleaning the church makes possible the preaching of the Gospel. Everyone who does anything to make the preaching of the Gospel possible is serving the Lord. The church mechanic is important. The secretary who answers the phone is important. The greeter at the door is important. We are all parts of the Body of Christ, each fulfilling a different function and purpose. God is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). All of our labors for the Lord will be rewarded (1st Corinthians 3:6-8; Matthew 10:42 - King James Bible for all Scripture quotations).
My point is that we can ALL DO SOMETHING for God, and God has promised to reward us for everything we do for Him. I believe that the people who get paid to serve the Lord already have their reward. They received cash and benefits for serving God on a church staff or some type of ministry. But those who serve God freely, as I do without making a penny, freely from their heart, expecting nothing in return, I believe will receive the greatest rewards in Heaven. Certainly, even for a paid servant of the Lord there will be fringe benefits of changed lives and souls saved; but I'm simply saying that the greatest rewards will go to those who serve God without be compensated in any way upon the earth. It's not wrong to be paid to pastor a church; but it is much better, honorable and pleasing to the Lord when we serve God freely.
Anytime money is involved there is the risk of corruption and insincerity. Today's churches are proof of what I say. Never before have we witnessed so much exploitation of Christianity and the name of the Lord as we do today. Religious rip-off artists and swindlers are everywhere we turn. It is sickening. I long for the Lord to return and put an end to the religious fakes and frauds who exploit the poor, sick and elderly to swindle their money. Benny Hinn and Oral Roberts come to mind.
I look forward to the end of this sin-cursed life, exiting this messed up planet. I don't like being in this pain-filled, hurtful, insane, Christless world. I want to be in eternity with my precious redeemer and God. If you enjoy this rotten life, then you evidently don't suffer in excruciating physical pain every day like I do surviving on a pile of pain pills to get by day-by-day. Life is a series of one pain after another. The flesh is evil and cannot be tamed. People by nature are inherently selfish, gossipers, liars, jealous, mean, hateful, hypocrites, malicious, unforgiving and like to play mind games. 2nd Timothy 3:1-12 and Galatians 5:19-21 evidence this truth. The only exception are those few, and I mean few, Christians who genuinely love Jesus Christ are have the Spirit of the Lord working strongly in them; hence, they are like Jesus. Oh how I want to be like that. I cannot by myself; but with God's Holy spirit living through me, I die daily. I want to exemplify my precious Lord in everything that I say and do.
No one becomes a super Christian overnight. We must learn from our faults, sins and mistakes; allowing God's Holy Spirit to use those painful experiences to make us better Christians, strengthen us, and cause us to trust the Lord more each day. We grow by taking baby steps. No baby can walk until it first crawls; and no child can run until it first walks. Thus, we crawl as new believers in the Lord until one day we can hopefully run the race for the Lord at full stride. Unshakable faith only comes from having our faith shaken.
I have dozens of books and hundreds of lengthy quotes and thousands of articles on my ministry websites. I am not smarter than others, but I do work harder than most people. That's all. My websites are not the result of a brilliant mind; but rather, a hardworking man who loves God, loves people, and wants to share his heart and get THE TRUTH into the minds and hearts of as many people as possible. I just do a little each day and it has added up over time. One day I'll upload a sermon video to YouTube, the next day I'll write an article exposing the evils of abortion, the next day I'll type out a chapter of a book on prayer and upload it... a little each day. That's all God asks from us!
1st Corinthians 3:10-15 teaches that we will be judged according to what SORT our works are of. What sort are they? What sort of works are Eddie Van Halen's Rock 'N' Roll recordings, and drunken guitar endorsements, and cursing in God's name everywhere he goes? They are demonic works of darkness! It is tragic. Eddie's life will soon be over. This world fades quickly away as the grass of the field. 1st Peter 1:24-25, “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” Eddie Van Halen's glory has already faded away to a large extent, and it will all fall away soon just as 1st Peter 1:24 says.
But God's Word will abide forever, and so will those believers who have been born-again by the precious Seed of God's Word (1st Peter 1:23). There is no salvation is religion. There is no salvation is good works. There is no salvation is turning over a new leaf, committing one's life to God, nor surrendering to Jesus Christ. These are all fine in their appropriate place but none of them are plans of salvation. Only by faith in the name of Jesus Christ can anyone be saved and have their sins forgiven (John 20:31; Acts 10:43; Acts 4:10-12; Romans 10:3-4; Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:8-9 - All Scriptures are quoted only from the King James Bible).
I challenge you, whoever you may be, to do a little each day for the Lord Jesus Christ. Please don't make the mistake of burying your talents which God has given to you as did the foolish man in the Bible (Matthew 25:24). Everyone has some talents, resources, abilities, money, time, gifts, or some thing they can give back to God. No one has everything, but we all have something we can DO FOR GOD. What is it that God has given to you?
God came to Moses to lead the Israelites out of bondage and slavery in Egypt. Moses didn't want the job and made all sorts of excuses in an attempt to convince God that He had the wrong guy. Moses said he was slow of speech. So God said He would send along Moses brother, Aaron, to be Moses spokesman. Moses said the Jews wouldn't listen to him, being an accused murderer from 40-years ago. Moses told God that he had no skills, abilities, nor talents. God asked Moses what was in His hand. Exodus 4:2, “And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.” God told Moses to tell the Jews that I AM sent him. Moses was still reluctant to go, so God gave Moses 2 signs to perform: turning his hand into leprosy and also turning his staff into a snake.
Finally, Moses realized that God
wasn't going to take “No” for an answer. God used that rod of Moses to bring
the plagues upon Egypt. God used Moses' rod to part the Red Sea to deliver
the Jews from Pharaoh's armies. God used Moses' rod to bring forth water
from the rock to quench the thirst of the Jews. God used Moses rod, a plain
ole stick, to perform all the miraculous miracles before the eyes of the
people of God. If all you have is a stick in your hand, then God can use you
to accomplish mighty works in His name if you'll simply yield yourself to
the will of God, which is revealed in the Word of God. Amen and amen!
The Promise of Eternal Life
The Bible tells us that salvation comes only to those who enter through the DOOR into Heaven. John 10:1, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” This door is the STRAIGHT GATE which leadeth unto life...
Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
