My Soul Thirsteth For God
By David J. Stewart
Psalms 42:1, “My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?”
David's soul thirsted for God. Most people today thirst for television, professional sports, American Idol; but God has no place in their heart nor life.
Psalms 78:49, “He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.”
Notice in the following Scripture passage that the wicked watch the righteous and seeketh to kill him...
Psalms 37:31-40, “The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.”
Ah, but God delivers the righteous who trust in Him. Whew!!! The Lord is our strength in time of trouble! The Bible promises that God will help us and deliver us from the wicked, because WE TRUST IN HIM. Hebrews 11:6 says it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God without faith. Faith is dependence upon God.
“There is much mourning today over false 'isms,' infidelity, and the like, but sum them all up, and I do not fear them one half so much as that dead and cold formalism that has crept into the Church of God.” —Pastor Dwight L. Moody
Most people worry for nothing...
30% of worries can't be changed
40% of worries never happen.
12% of worries are needless.
10% of worries are petty things.
8% of worries are legitimate.
SOURCE: WORRY (a helpful sermon by Pastor Jack Hyles)
That means 92% of our worries are unjustified. My friend, cast your cares upon the Lord Jesus Christ and let God do your worrying for you. If you're not saved, then get saved right now. Acknowledge your debt of sin. You are a guilty sinner (as are all humanity). Faith is the key to everything; worry is atheism; less trust means more worry. Thankfully God sent His only begotten Son into the world to pay for our sins with His precious blood. Christ died, was buried and rose again. That is the GOSPEL (1st Corinthians 15:1-4).
God will take care of you,
Through every day,
O'er all the way,
He will take care of you!Does your soul thirst and hunger after God my friend? I've been listening to the audio Bible lately on DVD by Alexander Scourby, which has helped me draw closer to God. You cannot be close to God and be far from His Word. If you want to draw near to God then draw near to His Word.
Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing the Word of God...

God's Solemn Promise of Eternal Life
The Bible tells us that salvation comes only to those who enter through the DOOR into Heaven. John 10:1, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” This door is the STRAIGHT GATE which leadeth unto life...
Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
