The Word of God ought to be the only place where a
Christian seeks spiritual guidance. The Bible gives us some key teachings
which can be applied to ALL teachings in the world in Colossians 2:6-9...
Colossians 2:6-9, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
Many people have been led astray from Christ without realizing it. The word “beware” in Colossians 2:8 is the Greek word blepo and means “to look at: regard, perceive, take heed.” The word “spoil” is the Greek word sulagogeo and means “to lead away as booty, that is, (figuratively) seduce.” Hence, the Bible tells us to be on guard by looking at everything taught and put forth by others.
1st John 4:1 instructs us as believers to try
(test) every spirit, to see whether it is the spirit of Christ or Satan. 1st
John 4:1, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they
are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” Many
people today are being spoiled (led astray) from Jesus Christ by worldly
philosophies, manmade tradition, vain deceit and rudiments (established secular
systems of thinking; such as, humanism, evolution, and psychology to name a
few).
America Is Saturated With Witchcraft
American culture is saturated with demonic influences that the average person doesn't recognize. You don't have to wear a black cape with a pointed witch's hat to be involved with witchcraft my friend. In 1st Samuel 15:23 (“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft”) the word “witchcraft” is the Greek word qesem and means “divination, including its fee), oracle.” Divination and oracle both refer mean to “prophecy, or tell the future, by supernatural powers.” God has already told us, for now, how much He wants us to know about the future in the Word of God. In fact, the Bible contains one-third prophecy as a whole. Thus, to seek out supernatural means (familiar spirits) to tell the future is wickedness. God hates witchcraft in all it's forms.
It should be clear to you now that various forms of witchcraft include: psychics, tarot cards, palm reading, crystal balls, Ouija boards, séances, horoscopes, necromancy, channeling, ghost hunts, charms, potions, ritual candle burning, zodiacs, new age, yoga, Kundalini yoga, automatic writing, astral projection, good luck charms, spiritism—and hundreds of other sinful witchcraft practices that seek, wisdom, help or guidance from spiritual powers that are not the Holy Spirit of God. Television is saturated with witchcraft. Warlocks (which means liar) are male witches. Certainly witchcraft would be categorized under vain deceit.
The Simple Answer Is To Follow Christ
No matter what comes your way in life—whether in deed or thought—anchor yourself to the inspired, eternal, Words of God. Colossians 3:1-3, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” Aren't those precious and beautiful Scriptures?
The world is seeking spiritual answers apart from the Bible, because they are either ashamed of the Gospel or in love with their sins (or both). Any attempt to improve the sinful nature of mankind without the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is religious humanism. I hear many people in these apostate times attempting to reform the flesh without regeneration by the seed of God's Word. Friend, there can be no lasting and genuine reformation until there has first been repentance and regeneration. Repent of your unbelief and believe the good news of Christ's death, burial and resurrection.
God sent His only begotten Son into the world to
pay for our sins. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, went to the
cross to be crucified for the sins of the whole world. 1st John 2:2, “And he
is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins
of the whole world.”
Have You Risen With Christ My Friend?
That is, have you believed the Gospel? You were born with the old man, the flesh. You need a new nature if you are to improve your life, truly improve your life. That new nature is Christ. The old nature cannot genuinely be changed, reformed, nor made new. The flesh is sinful and always will be. Our only hope is Jesus Christ. When you get saved, you now walk in the new Spirit of Christ in you. The old man is dead as long as we live in Christ. This is why we read wonderful Scriptures; such as Colossians 2:6, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him.”
Psalms 147:11, “The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.”
Job 16:2, “I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.”
