The FEAR OF THE LORD Is
To Hate Evil
By David J. Stewart
Proverbs 8:13, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
I was amazed this week to learn that there's enough atomic energy in an average sized tree to supply all the electrical energy for America over the next 10 years. God is so amazing! Read these Scriptures about the fear of the Lord...
2nd Chronicles 19:9, “And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.”
Job 28:28, “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”
Psalms 19:9, “The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.”
Psalms 34:11, “Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.”
Psalms 111:10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”
Proverb 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverb 1:29, “For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD.”
Proverb 2:5, “Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”
Proverb 8:13, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
Proverb 9:10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
The following information is nothing less than truly amazing, evidencing how powerful (omnipotent) and awesome our God truly is...
“Yes, our universe is very large, but there is still more to it than what you probably realize. Most people have never considered the amount of energy needed to create a single atom. Powerful bonds hold atoms together and when these bonds are broken, a tremendous amount of energy is released. This energy can be calculated by using Albert Einstein’s historic E=mc2 (See footnote #2 below for more information). For example, the atomic energy stored in 1 gram (.035 ounce) of matter is equal to the power obtained from 700,000 gallons of octane fuel. (Source: ChemCom, page 309.) For a more dramatic example, the atomic energy stored in the atoms of a 200-pound man is equal to 157,307 atomic bombs (the ones dropped on Hiroshima). For you weightlifters, that's the same as bench-pressing a 500-pound weight over 12 million billion times. If there is that much atomic energy in a 200-pound man, imagine how much energy was needed to create the whole universe. Imagine the magnitude of the God who created all this. I find it amazing that people actually have the audacity to say that they will boldly stand up to God when they enter eternity. They obviously don’t comprehend the God who created them. Just as our minds can’t comprehend the magnitude and complexity of the universe, it can’t comprehend the magnitude and complexity of God. Obviously, God is far greater and more powerful than the universe He created. Even though our universe is incredibly staggering in size, it is probably just a minuscule dot in comparison to God’s actual greatness and power. I can’t even begin to imagine how great, majestic, powerful, and awesome our God must be.” SOURCE: God Is Amazing! |
I can't even fathom such startling truths. One 200 pound man has enough atomic energy in his body to equal 157,307 Hiroshima type nuclear bombs. I cannot even grasp this amazing scientific fact! Please read, GOD IS AMAZING!
Hebrews 10:31 warns that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. I do fear God. Do you? I am saddened for those in our deteriorated American culture today who blaspheme the Son of God to appease the wicked people who control Hollywood, the TV networks, the heathen mainstream newsmedia, the entertainment and music industries, and sad to say, even the apostate ecumenical movement. Sarah Silverman, Conan O'Brien, John Stewart, Bill Maher, Shakira, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry... these all are Christ-rejecting blasphemers!
John Hagee has lost his mind, teaching that Jesus was not the Messiah. Hagee claims that since the Bible never said Jesus is the Messiah, the Jews didn't really murder their Messiah. Hagee is a liar and had better read John 4:25-26 where Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well that He is indeed the Messiah that should come. I believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and I hope you do to for your own eternal sake.
Isaiah 45:9, “Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?”
If you haven't feared God until now, then decide to do so. It's a simple decision. I choose to fear God; therefore, everything I think and do is guided by that decision. I choose to love others and help people because I fear God and have to stand accountable at the Judgment Seat Of Christ.
Salvation is a choice, which brings about the miraculous new birth. Salvation is a supernatural miracle on God's part in response to our faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. If you choose to receive the Gospel (i.e., the death, burial and resurrection) of the Lord Jesus Christ as payment for your sins, then you will be saved immediately, irrevocably and eternally.
Time And Chance Happeneth To Them All
Life is a series of decisions. How we make those decisions largely determines our future. It is true to some degree that we make our own fate.
Of course, this is only partially true, because time and chance happeneth to all. The Scripture reference for that Bible verse is easy to remember...
Ecclesiastes 9:11, “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.”
Isn't that amazing? I think about the September 11, 2001 Trade Tower attacks. Although the attacks themselves were planned and carried out by Saudi Arabian criminals (and orchestrated by the Bush administration criminals), the people who lived or died was a matter of time and chance. Many survivors testified how they would have been in the buildings, but weren't for one reason or another. And sadly, some people were in the buildings when they blew up and fell, who normally wouldn't have been there. Most of the victims were in their normal job positions. They were in the right place at the right time, but it all went so horribly wrong that day. Time and chance happened to thousands of people on that terrible day on September 11, 2001.
The very thought that time and chance play such a big role in my life (that I have no control over) frustrates and scares me. Yet, I have God's PROMISE in Romans 8:28 that all things will work together for good to them who are God's redeemed children. There's no such thing as a born-again Christian who hates the Lord. So when the Bible mentions those who love God in Romans 8:28 and are called according to God's purpose, it simply refers to every born-again believer who has received the Gospel as payment for their sins. 1st Peter 2:7 says that Jesus is precious to every one that believeth. As Christians we may get angry at God sometimes (which is normal in our pain and afflictions), but we still love Him (the same as when we are upset with a loved one). Being melancholy is part of our human emotions.
The Greatness Of God Cannot Be Searched Out
Psalms 145:3 says that God's greatness is unsearchable. When I consider the work of God's hands in the universe, I cannot help but stand in awe at my God. Astronomers have discovered that there are at least one trillion-billion stars. That's 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars (one sextillion). That's the minimum they've determined). Can you imagine? I learned this fact from the following video...
God spoke the stars into existence and has a name for each and every one of them according to Psalms 147:4, “He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.” If God can create, name and maintain a sextillion stars (and that's just the number men have discovered), do you think He cannot know the very thoughts of 6.8 billion people on earth? Matthew 10:29-30 says that God even knows the number of hairs on our head.
God is greatly to be feared. Yet, we need not be afraid so long as we obey Him, serving Him in godly reverence and fear as Hebrews 12:28 teaches. Romans 3:18 says that most people have no fear of God before their eyes. Fools!!! Do they not realize that this life is but a vapor, and then the JUDGMENT (Hebrews 9:27)! Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 concludes that man's duty is to fear God and keep His Commandments. Verse 14 proclaims that every work shall be brought into judgment.
