God Is Good
By David J. Stewart
Proverbs 28:13, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
God is a wonderful God, full of mercy and love. 1st John 1:9 says that God is faithful and just to forgive those who seek it, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” But the Bible warns that if anyone denies being a sinner, they are not saved. 1st John 1:10, “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” But God in His goodness has promised to forgive and to cleanse those who seek forgiveness and forsake them in their heart.
That doesn't mean you'll be perfect. Only a self-righteous hypocrite teaches that anyone can live perfect above sin. We ought to all live above reproach, but no one can live above sin. Even the best of Christians still commit sin (Romans 7:14-25). God is good to us. Consider these precious and heart-warming Scriptures from Psalms 103:8-14...
Psalms 103:8-14, “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.”
Amen, God separates the believer's sins as far as the east is from the west. Think about that. You can only travel so far up north until you'll be going south. And you can only go so far south until you're going north. This is because of the north and south poles. Ah, but you can get on an airplane and fly east forever, refueling and continuing eastward, and you'll NEVER find west. Everything that God says and does is for a reason. Nothing that God does is by chance. Every word in the Bible was put there by God for a reason. Nothing ever occurs to God. There are no oops with God. The Lord is omnipotent (all-powerful), omnipresent and omniscient (all-knowing).
God is so good to all of us. I don't care what you've been through, or are going through... God is a good God!!!
Did you know that the word created only appears in Genesis 1:1 and then not again until Genesis 21? In between we find the word “made.” The Hebrew meaning of “create” is absolute, but the Hebrew meaning of “made” is in the broadest sense of the term. Thus, God literally made the universe from nothing in Genesis 1:1, but then he remodeled the universe in the following Scriptures (which plainly teaches an old earth Biblical view, when dinosaurs lived in a prehistoric world without mankind). However, the human race is only 6,000 years old, substantiated by Scriptures. You can read more about this fascinating topic here in the article titled, The Bible Teaches An Old Earth; But A Young Human Race.
Notice also that the Bible comforts us that God considers our frame and remembers that we are made from dust. Psalms 103:14, “For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.” God knows, and He cares...
Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I — not events — have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it. — Groucho Marx
